If you’re a regular reader of the blog – and I sincerely hope that you are – then you may have noticed that we posted more articles than usual during the month of January. Don’t get used to that posting schedule — it was a rare event that only occurs during rainy weeks and peak tourist season.
You see, the period of time from early December through late January is the peak tourist season for the area that we call home. The hotels are packed with tourists, every other car has a rental tag and my favorite restaurants are full of strangers. At one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Playa del Carmen, El Fogón, there was a long line of people waiting over an hour for a table.
Since I’m not fan of crowds, lines or waiting — I decided to dedicate more time to our hobby blog until things died down a bit.
Since I spent over 18 years as a law enforcement supervisor, I have this strong tendency to judge success and failure based on statistical data. Statistically speaking, January was a successful month for the blog:
21 articles posted
156,248 page views
64,455 unique visitors
478 emails from readers
In case you’re wondering, we answered all of those emails personally. Unfortunately, our responses to AOL email accounts were often rejected as spam. We apologize to anyone with an AOL account who didn’t receive our response– we tried.
February is one of our favorite times of year to travel around the peninsula and take full advantage of the beautiful weather. Although there are still quite a few tourists, it’s nothing like it was a few weeks ago.
Our calendar is jam-packed with multiple trips and we won’t have much free time until the first week of March. In other words, we won’t be posting very often this month. We will, however, still be responding to emails from readers — at least when we get some free time here and there.
Let’s Wrap This Up
The thing that I like best about blogging is that we don’t have to adhere to a strict posting schedule. It allows us the flexibility to enjoy perfect beach days, travel on a whim and enjoy every day to the fullest.
Since we will have an irregular posting schedule for awhile, you might want to consider subscribing to the newsletter below in order to get an email notification when we post something new. By the way, we never share our list of subscribers with anyone, so no worries there.
