Celebrating One Million Views and Counting

When we started this blog last year, we never expected many people to find it — let alone read it. It just seemed like an interesting hobby to do over morning coffee and on rainy days.

We got the idea to start a blog after meeting several other expats who had one. Apparently the cool thing to do nowadays is to move to a foreign country and then share your experiences with strangers. I realize that sounds odd, but here we are.

For reasons that are still a mystery to both of us, the blog quickly grew in popularity and today we reached the milestone of one million page views.

Let’s Wrap This Up

We want to take the time to thank all of our followers who take time out of their day to check out the blog and share our articles with their friends. You guys are awesome!

We would offer to buy you all the beverage of your choice, but that is definitely not in the budget. For now, you’ll have to settle for a very sincere and heartfelt thank you!

Thank you Paul & Linda. Your blog has been a great inspiration to both my wife and I. We will both hopefully catch up with you both soon and buy you a thank you beverage.
    See you soon.

  8. We must all gravitate to your blog for any number of reasons. For me, it is the excellent writing, super-interesting subjects, honest presentation of touchy subjects, and just lots of helpful hints and tips for us wannabes. Thanks so much for all of your efforts and expertise – especially with your Spanish Lessons!

  9. Well done to you both!

Your blog is a success for a variety of reasons. You take the time to research and verify information that we as expats or upcoming Expats want and need to know. You’re a terrific writer. Linda is an extraordinary editor.

You “wrap it up” at the perfect length of post and we simply just like you.

The world is a much better place because you’re both it in.

  10. Great Job! It’s amazing when you find a niche that fills a real need or interest. Now you need to figure out how to monetize your efforts. Say, charge $1 for each page view? 🙂

  15. The reason is because of YOU Paul. Your writing is great! Entertaining, informative but short and to the point. Great job! Keep it coming!! Thx! Canadian reader and lover of all things in the Mayan Riviera!

  16. You and Linda brighten my life with your blog! You’re sharing such worthwhile information and you’re actually a good writer Paul. Considering your US profession I was a tiny bit surprised. Or does that credit go to Linda? We’ve been to CZM 22 times from 1994-2006, but haven’t been able to get back since. We’ll be on the island for the month of March and are planning a couple nights in Akamal because of you two! Need to do some
Exploring off the island. Again, thanks for the time you spend on your blog. Soooo appreciated!

  19. Thanks for taking the time to blog. Travel is more of a challenge for my wife and I now, but we have made many trips to Mexico over the last 25 years. Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cabo, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco most in 4-5 star resorts (not all inclusive), however the place that hooked us and almost convinced us to become expats in Mexico was a small group of concrete bungalows on the beach in Akumal. Now we enjoy the memories that your blog stirs up. Carpe Diem, my friend. Keep blogging.

I think we are the ones owing Linda and you a beverage or two of choice!! Thanks for always being awesome!

  46. Well CONGRATULATIONS on the milestone. Now if you can figure out how to turn each hit into $1 you’ll be set. This is Glenn And Claudia, your part time and hopefully near future full time neighbors. Had a good time talking with you guys over at Dave and Randy’s (If I remember their names correctly). We had wanted to invite you guys out for a dinner before we left but we ran out of time with all of our furniture shopping that we had to do. Still didn’t get it all down but that gives us a reason to come back in the near future. We were 1 for 2 on your recommendations. We struck out on Manglars Pizza in Tulum. Went down there one day and spent all of our cash on furniture beforehand after withdrawing our daily limits at the atm’s and then found out they don’t accept credit cards. Didn’t read about that in the blog LOL just kidding!!! Then we went back the day before we left at around 11:30am and they were closed. However, we were able to get some custom furniture designed at Ferro & Legno for not much more money, if any, than what we were looking at spending at other places so we are both very excited about that. The furniture hunt was a much higher priority for us anyways.

Let’s wrap this up: It was great to see you guys again, thanks for the great suggestions, we owe you a dinner and a beer next time we come down, and here’s to 2 million viewers. Great job on the blog don’t change a thing!!

    Glenn & Claudia
