Our Upcoming Book and How It Will Affect the Blog

Since starting the blog just over two years ago, we have received numerous emails from readers suggesting that I write a book about retiring in Mexico. The reason that is most often cited is that it would make it easier for people to find the information that they’re looking for (e.g. resident visa requirements) if it was all contained in a single document.

Well, I’ve decided to take their advice and write an Book about retiring in Mexico. That’s the good news — at least for the folks who would like such a thing.

The bad news is that while I’m working on the book, I won’t have as much time to dedicate to writing blog articles. Don’t worry, I’m not quitting or anything — I just won’t be posting as frequently as I normally do until the book is finished.

It all comes down to opportunity costs and I’m certainly not going to cut into our time dedicated to travel, social engagements, beach time and/or happy hour. That would be crazy.

Since there will only be a few posts a month for the foreseeable future, you might want to consider subscribing to the blog so you’ll get an email notification whenever we post a new article. You can do that below.

UPDATE 5/25/18: After we posted that we would be coming out with an eBook about moving retiring in Mexico, we were inundated with requests to release a printed version as well. I guess a lot of our followers still prefer to flip through actual pages.

Well, we listened and the book will be available in both a printed and electronic format.

The next thing you know people will be asking us to an add an audiobook version. 😉

  24. Paul, many people have had homes built in Mexico. The granddaddy of all books of this nature is “God and Mr. Gomez, by Jack Smith. He was a columnist for the La Times or one of those LA newspapers. Some of those that have written books on building homes in Mexico pay homage to Jack Smith. Some don’t!
You should also consider joining a Facebook Group, Mexico Writers. We have nearly 200 members and among them are some of the most prolific Authors in Mexico. They are mostly Americans.

Going on an extended cruise in July with family, will dock in Cozumel the 24th, take a faire to the mainland, hire a driver to explore rental properties on Rivera Maya. Based on research, Akumal may fit our long-term retirement plans. We are both retired, looking for retirement options in Mexico. We checked out Costa Rica in February (nice but to expensive) and will visit our daughter in Panama in June (Boquete). If you have suggestions for exploring the rental market in Costa Maya, please write.
