Buen Fin Starts This Friday

As a thrifty retiree, I’m always looking for opportunities to save money — especially on big ticket items like electronics and appliances. One of those opportunities begins Friday and it’s called Buen Fin.

Buen Fin is Mexico’s version of Black Friday, but unlike Black Friday which only lasts one day, Buen Fin offers four days of discounted merchandise.

This Year, Buen Fin is November 16-19

Some local government agencies will also participate in Buen Fin and offer discounts of up to 50% on past due fines and/or taxes. Now that’s a deal!

  1. Thanks for the heads-up…. now what do I need? {grin}

  2. We discovered that resorts even partipate in this holiday. We receive a pretty large discount when we purchased vacation club points during Buen Fin one year. This might be a good time to call and see if they are offering deals again for us to replenish our points. Thanks!

  3. Buen Fin can net some good deals but be careful. Some stores raise the price of an item then discount it for Buen Fin bringing the price back to the original price or higher. I was looking at a lap top in a national chain store but decided to wait a few weeks for Buen Fin before making the purchase … so I knew the price prior to the “sale’.. The store raised the price, then applied a Buen Fin discount that made the item higher priced than before the “sale”, The store manager was of no help. A week after Buen Fine the item was back on the shelf at the price prior to this “sales event”. A word to the wise watch carefully.

  4. Great news…We just picked up the keys to our new empty apt. In Puerto Morelos!

  5. Love your blogs, so informative!!

  6. I have one friend in retail in Mexico and he tells the retailers increase their prices the week before so they can offer the discount. But It’s worth checking it out, if you Don’t mind a Mexican Black Friday. Now that’s a scary thought!
