Thanks for Helping Us Reach One Million Views

I don’t check the stats for the blog very often, but today I took a quick look and I learned that the blog has been viewed over one million times this year alone.

Considering that we don’t spend a penny on advertising and we take weeks off at a time to travel, that’s pretty impressive.

We actually passed the one million mark over a month ago, but like I said, I don’t check the stats very often.

Clearly, our success is not due to ourΒ laissez-faire approach to website promotion, so the only logical conclusion is that the credit belongs to our readers — especially those who consistently go out of their way to share our articles and tell people about us.

Linda and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you. If it wasn’t for your continuing support and encouragement, we probably would have stopped blogging long ago.

  6. I’m not surprised. I know I personally have told about 20 or so folks, and asked admins from three or four Facebook pages if it’s be okay to add your posts to their sites, and they all said yes. I’m particular vocal about your language videos — one of the coolest things I’ve found. Congratulations — Robert K

    • We can definitely relate. We dreamed about coming to Mexico for years until we were finally able to make it a reality in 2015. By the way, we have absolutely no regrets.

  17. I spend my winters on the Pacific coast of mexico and really enjoy, first your articles and info. What makes you a total rock star is your Spanish Lessons, you totally ended my struggle to grasp the language, duolingo only helps so much, you dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s for me!!! Thank You

  18. I have been following your blog for past 2 years. We frequent Isla Mujeres and just got back from a week in Isla. We are planning a trip to Akumal, looking at FEb 10th week. We plan to bring our golf clubs and play golf and want to stay in the gated community area where you guys live. We have no idea where to book a condo for the week, and how to get to the beach side when we want to go over to the beach. Having never been there, we are at a lost. Any suggestions? Just have no idea of what would make the perfect week of golf and beach and where to stay?

    • There are several condo rentals in the area that you can find on sites like airbnb and vrbo. Getting the beach side is not a problem from almost anywhere. My only suggestion is to rent a car because it is difficult to get around easily without one.

Congrats! Much deserved as the blog is very informative and well presented. THANK YOU!

  27. You’re both a traveler’s and a marketer’s dream with these stats! My clients work very hard to accomplish half of that many views in that time frame. Organic growth is the best, as you’ve proven. Produce a great product and people will find you. Your posts are clearly right on target and reaching your intended audience. You should be very proud of yourselves. Well done!

    • Thanks, Aussem.

I actually was very surprised we had that much traffic because we take long breaks from posting. In fact, l only posted six articles from September 1st – October 31st because we were busy traveling.

  28. Keep up the fantastic info. Searching for tiny house neighborhoods in Mexico.

    • Many of the houses are very small here but I assume you’re talking about the exceptionally small houses that are popular in the U.S.

  44. We moved to Mexico half-time at about the same time you started blogging. We greatly appreciate your insights and attention to Mexican law. Thanks to you, we learned that as retirees the process for getting resident status is much simpler than we’d been led to believe. This month we were granted permanent resident status and expect to receive our cards in the next couple weeks. Feliz DΓa de AcciΓ³n de Gracias!

Paul and Linda, you didn’t give credit to your high quality content and succinct format. Smart blogging formula that never feels formulaic! Figure that one out. All the best for your next million!

I may join you or not one day, but I learn a lot and get food for thought from your posts.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to ya’ll! Been living in Huatulco since 1991 and so grateful to have been introduced to your blog. Really helps me with life in general and fills in a lot of the blanks that I’ve encountered over the years. God bless ya’ll, keep you safe and healthy. Love, joy and peace to you and your family!

    • Happy Thanksgiving, Tamara. We just visited Huatulco and loved it. In fact, I plan to a post on it soon. πŸ™‚

  48. Clear, concise and lots of useful information. My favorite blog by far. And great Spanish lessons! Keep up the good work.

  49. Love your blog , but now too many too fast!!!!

    • I go through phases where I’ll write a post a day, and then I’ll take long breaks where I don’t write a single word.

For example, during the months of September and October, I only posted a total of six articles.

  50. Thank you for the great insight, tips, recommendations, & useful information. My husband is spending lots of time on your free Spanish lessons while I work these last few months before retirement. Then we are off to Baja Sur. Looking forward to life at the beach. Happy Holidays. Cheers.

  51. We really appreciate the blog you write for the insights we get from them. They came in handy while we recently visited Akumal at the Villas de Rosa. It was interesting how many times we ran into you and your wife Linda during our stay. It looks like we found a condo with Tao. Our occupancy wouldn’t be until Oct 2020 but we would rent from next November till then.

Anyway, Thanks for your work on the blog and Happy Thanksgiving.

  52. Thank you for your continued dedication to making our lives easier. I started following you while we still lived in the US. We’ve now been living in Mexico for nearly two years, and I still read every post – and sometimes go back to re-read previous ones. We live on the other side of Mexico in a different state, but your info is mostly applicable to us as well. I also love your Spanish lessons – perfectly suited for easy learning!

  53. You did Good… Keep it up and Gracias for all the hard work… Hasta manana!

  54. Wow! I remember when you just had a few 1000 followers. Good for you guys!

  55. We very much appreciate all that you are doing. The information you provide is priceless. Thank you!

    your helpful

  58. Enjoy the information you share very much. It’s practical and exactly what I’m wondering about as we look forward to our own move to mazatlan. You’re doing a great service for future expats. Tu eres muy amable amigo!

  59. As I am sure you eventually find out about me, since I will living very close to you at some point in time, I am very harsh on Law enforcement, BECASUSE, out of the greatest respect, they deserve to be held to VERY high standards and I believe these days, sadly, the opposite is often true. It is partly BECAUSE you are a retired LEO, that I trust what you say, thus I read ALL of your blogs and take confidence that what I am reading is accurate and without ulterior motive. I’ve invested a LOT of money in Mexico based on what I’ve learned from you. So far you haven’t let me down. Thank you Paul!

    • I agree that law enforcement officers and personnel should be held to the highest standards. As far as the blog is concerned, I make every effort to ensure that the information is accurate. That’s why I often include citations and links to the applicable laws, regulations and/or procedures.

Welcome to Mexico, I hope that you love it here as much as Linda and I do. πŸ™‚

  60. Congratulations! We moved to Cancun this year and had been enjoying reading your blog in preparation for our move! We were inspired to start our own blog to share our experiences and help others understand what life in Mexico is really like. Thanks for all that you do!

  61. I love your blogs. So down to earth and informative. It has helped me make my decision to move to Mexico in about 1-2 years. Keep up the great work!

  62. Hola, Qroo Paul and Linda!! We love your blog and Spanish lessons. Our place is across the water from you guys in Cozumel. We’re not there full-time yet since I still work. Our realtor told us about your blog and I know she shares it often with others on the island. Keep up the great work!!

  63. You’re an inspiration, Paul. Vivo en Palm Springs en este momento, pero espero movar a Tijuana el prΓ³ximo aΓ±o y trabajar en San Diego. Keep doing your awesome work.
