Paul, I just wanted to give a bit of feedback on your car/plate renewal video.
Wife and I have been living (winters that is) on Isla Mujeres for the past 16 years. After buying/remodeling our condo in late 2005, we drove down with a truck load of stuff that we thought we needed in MX. This included a golf cart and Vespa scooter. As you can imagine, there are many stories in this quest but to your video, every year we have had to renew the plates on both vehicles (Vespa has since been replaced). Not being 100% fluent, this process has tested my stamina, persistence and fortitude every single year. As you know, the system better accommodates “locals” than foreigners. I don’t say this in a negative way…it’s just a matter of life here and we’ve accepted it as part of living in Mexico.
Ok, to the point. This video made the process so easy, I really hope they keep the appointment type process in the future. It would take at least 3-4 hours in the past to complete the process in renewing our plates. Today, with an appointment and the help of your video, we were done in a matter of minutes. We arrived 20 minutes early but allowed inside the office at the exact time of our first appointment (we needed 2…1 for each vehicle). When I made the appointment, I had your video going on my laptop and was using my tablet sitting next to it to make the appointment. I had all the copies ready and knew exactly how much it was going to cost.
Thank you again and keep up your great videos!!
Thank you for your law enforcement services. (After 35 years, I retired as the Chief Probation Officer in the 19th Judicial District of Colorado…in 2005.)

  2. Hello, was looking for the right topic but know you can answer.
I am going to get a TIP for my car. I have all the docs but my wife is also on the registration but will not drive with me. The registration says me OR her, not me AND her.
Will that be a problem? Hope not.
    Thank you.

  3. FYI. I’m getting my registration renewed right now. No appointment necessary. You owe me a beer for the wasted time.

I am super thankful for the vid on registration change. FYI here in Puerto Morelos, the place was empty exceept for who had an appointment (3 or 4 at any given time). I was summoned to the desk 5 minutes earlier than my 11am appointment, I told her I had paid online (didn’t have receipt!), she checked online and she only asked for photo ID (i provided passport) and the old registration card. I didn’t need any of the 1/2 dozen photocopies I had, told me sign here, and I was out of there before 11 am when I was scheduled! My best ever experience with a Mx agency of any kind! Thanks for your prep work help! you guys rock.
